  • Q: What is Adult & Teen Challenge?
A: Teen Challenge was founded in 1958 by David Wilkerson who ministered to drug addicts and gang members in New York City, NY. During his ministry in New York he established a recovery home to disciple these newly converted Christians. Now across the nation there are over 220 residential programs, and over 1400 centers world-wide.
  • Q: How is Teen Challenge funded?
A: Teen Challenge is a not-for-profit organization which relies on charitable donations from churches, individuals, and businesses. Adult & Teen Challenge does not charge monthly fees to program participants. All contributions are tax-deductible.
  • Q: Can I smoke?
A: No. Teen Challenge is a nicotine free program. We endeavor to help you break ties with all harmful substances.
  • Q: How long is the program?
A: Our program is 12 months long. We believe it takes a minimum of 12 months to maintain long-term sobriety.
  • Q: Do I have to stay all year?
A: Our program only works if you finish it. Our program was started in 1958 and over the years we have learned that recovery is a process, not an event. We have to understand that years of active using can not be fixed over a day, a week, or even a few months.
  • Q: How can I make my time in the program as successful as possible?
A: In order to be successful in this program you should be teachable and open to God’s word. The power of Jesus Christ to transform is the key to success.
  • Q: How much does it cost?
A: The funds generated from any work done in phase one and two go too ATCD to help in the operation of the program. This is one of the many ways we are able to compensate for not charging for the program. Apart from the $500 intake fee, there are no monthly charges for the program.
